New Chapter Alliance was born from one man's determination that no one should walk the road back alone. When Kenny Robinson was released in 2012 after a decade in federal prison, he faced over 40 rejections before Goodwill Industries gave him a chance. He took it and built from there.
That opportunity launched Kenny into the automotive industry, where he rose from salesman to sales manager over seven years, using his position to open doors for others with criminal backgrounds and help more than a dozen people to reach self-sufficiency.
In 2020, Kenny left that career to build something bigger: an organization rooted in the belief that where you've been doesn't define where you're going. When the pandemic hit and community need surged, he expanded services to reach seniors, people experiencing homelessness and others facing overlapping barriers.
What began as Kenny alongside two dedicated volunteers, who later became foundational team members, has since expanded into a robust staff of seven, including three master's-level social workers. This growth has allowed us to deepen our clinical support, expand our case management and meet complex community needs with professional, compassionate care.
What started as one man's mission has grown into Charlotte, North Carolina's model for what second chances can look like at scale, and the blueprint New Chapter Alliance is building for cities everywhere.
